Jenny Maher, Paralyzed Veteran, has taken her story of resilience to the shelves in her inspirational memoir, "Never Give Up: How Determination and God Gave Me a Better Look at Life." A book that showcases her determination to beat the odds, Never Give Up is a spiritual tale that needs to be told.

Jenny Maher grew up with a bipolar mother, whose instability forced Jenny to live in a constant state of anxiety and led her to suffer through the feelings of abandonment. Her struggles with mental illness led her down a path of misdirection that included jail time (shot in the mouth by a police officer) and even paralysis.

Struggling with family secrets and feeling lost and alone, Jenny hoped to make a new start in the Air Force. Even as she fought through the angst of a new start, she just couldn't bury her past emotional pain of neglect and abuse, which ultimately led to her discharge. Even during her darkest moment she was sexually assaulted by a trusted friend.

Years later, still trying to cope with the heartache of loneliness and deep trust issues, Jenny tried bonding with her mother. Although they had a complicated relationship, it was what Jenny needed at the time. Unfortunately, after a small misunderstanding, her mother went on a path of emotional destruction and not only disowned Jenny for good, but began a campaign of hateful emails. Knowing the outlook for forgiveness was bleak, Jenny felt compelled to take her own life.

Jenny woke up paralyzed from the neck down and, surprisingly, with a strong belief that God had saved her life for a reason. Never Give Up takes the reader through her battle to survive in a Veterans Hospital for nearly four years, where she faced life-threatening infections, surgeries, and even mistreatment. But her indomitable will to overcome her physical challenges prevailed. She has overcome a lifetime of unimaginable struggles and is now on a mission to help others accomplish these same feats.

Jenny Maher has been on numerous radio interviews across the country sharing her fascinating story of resilience. Her knowledge of mental illness and the do's and don'ts when it comes to physical disabilities enables a broad range of interesting topics. Jenny is an honorable Air Force veteran and is a quadriplegic. She hopes to inspire others with her book to not only have the power of faith, but to not let your disabilities disable you.
