With fun, colorful illustrations and an easy-to-read format, Kathleen Morrissey's new children's book, "Otter Tales" (published by AuthorHouse), takes young readers to the San Juan Islands. There, three otter pups embark on an exciting adventure and learn some hard lessons along the way.

Inspired by her own experience of watching otters while vacationing in the San Juan Islands, Morrissey set out to craft a book to teach children more about otters and their habitat in a fun and engaging way.

As the story unfolds, the three otter pups learn how to use tools to open clams, raft together on the open seas, and safe ways to avoid sea lions and eagles. The mischievous pups are also thrown into a scary and dangerous adventure as they learn that not listening to their mother has its consequences.

Morrissey's hope is that readers take away "Enjoyment of reading and easy comprehension of the story."
