Investing is a complicated process, with several factors to consider before committing your money. The last thing investors think about is their feelings. Former certified financial planner, stock analyst and managing trader Stephen H. Archer has watched as emotions have influenced investment decisions for years. Now, he advises readers on the behavioral aspects of investment decision making in "The Mind and the Stock Market: A Primer for a Beginning Investor."

"The Mind and the Stock Market" sheds light on the perils of emotional investing. Archer provides an educational tool that presents practical advice regarding the psychology of the mind and how it plays a role in the investment decision. He urges readers to be objective and thoroughly research their prospects before taking action.

Archer's guide aids two different groups of investors including skilled professionals and investment amateurs. It warns experienced investors of the mind's influence on investment decisions and encourages them to remain impartial. Additionally, it will introduce beginning investors to broad strategies and present alternative investment plans.

"There are many books on the mechanics of the market but few on behavioral aspects of investing," Archer said. "All investors need to be aware of the emotional influence on investment decisions, so that they can avoid mental errors. The Mind and the Stock Market enlightens readers about the mental or emotional influences of investing and how to curb that habit."
