“Dreamcatch” chronicles the story of Joseph Archer, who lives a normal life as a live-in servant until he touches the hood of a Catcher named Madeleine. In Berg’s world, Catchers are a group of people with the unique ability to catch the nightmares of the public.
When Joseph touches Madeleine’s hood, he inherits the powers that Catchers possess, but it comes with a caveat, he soon learns.
Madeleine and Joseph travel together to learn the Catcher’s trade and along the way he learns why Madeleine is desperately trying to find a cure for being a Catcher.
“Both characters deal with common coming-of-age dilemmas such as finding one’s purpose or choosing to pursue other purposes when one doesn’t work out,” Berg said. “Readers can find themselves in Madeleine or Joseph because it may inspire them to examine what they believe is their purpose for their own lives and the possibility of where life can lead them.”
In “Dreamcatch,” readers can follow along with Madeleine and Joseph as they conquer the thrilling but complex world of being a Catcher, nightmares and all.
