What could possibly change your life over night and turn a happy existence into a tit for tat practical joke nightmare? Having three brothers move in as your new next door neighbours that's what! The stage is set for misadventure, unstoppable comic moments and a wise-cracking teenage heroine in Fiona Pope's unrepentant foray into young adult catfights, the hilarious new novel Precious Bryony Rose and the Icky Sticky Booger Boys.
Bryony Rose comes head to head with the unruly and unstoppable Booger boys after her own dog, Clifford-Ella, displays out of control behaviour that ends up causing Bryony Rose major embarrassment. Bryony Rose develops a serious need to pay back her new neighbours for laughing at her public misfortune. She plans her own practical joke for revenge but it goes way too well and the next thing she knows she is at war with the Booger boys!
The socially inept boys have even stolen her own best friend and old next-door neighbour Max, turning him into a rascally brat. Taunting, teasing and raising a fair amount of hell in their generally peacable community, Bryony and her nemeses will stop at nothing, once the battle lines are drawn. Fiona Pope has a well-paced narrative and handles her characters with deftness, no matter how unruly, and she has that gift without which all humourists fall flat, the gift of comic timing. Precious Bryony Rose, without doubt will leave readers with stitches in their sides from laughing and sore cheeks from smiling. The mad young people romp their way through chaotic attempts to get revenge on each other from start to finish and the reader will be carried away in the plots for devilish mischief.
