Vegetarianism is a time-honored dietary and lifestyle choice with many varieties, ranging from ovo-lacto vegetarians who include eggs and dairy products, to complete vegans who partake in neither the flesh, nor the breast milk nor the ovum of any creature with a face. To enlighten young readers about the vegetarian way of life, author Linda Napoli's picture book shows them the "Wild Vegetarians" of the world.
Big brother, Joseph takes his little sister, Sofia on a journey through photographs and illustrations to acquaint her with the "wild vegetarians" on every continent in the world. As the two children return from a visit to the park and sit down to eat lunch, they talk about the different creatures everywhere who are vegetarians just like they are. Through this vibrantly illustrated and fun-filled picture book, young readers will learn more about vegetarianism and how herbivores throughout the world likewise live happy and healthy lives without eating meat, thus promoting an alternative dietary and lifestyle experience to curious kids everywhere.
"Wild Vegetarians" is an excellent picture book for vegetarian parents to share with their young ones to explain the subject in an engaging and entertaining manner - and to show them that eating their greens is a normal thing throughout the animal kingdom.
