Facing adversity at any age is difficult, but for children, the first taste of failure can be especially frustrating and confusing. Unless children are properly motivated and encouraged, hardships can foster a "give-up" attitude. Brian Harold has created a story - and one magical character - meant to provide the inspiration children need when they face misfortune in "Ralph the Magical Elf: Not a Christmas Story."

"Ralph the Magical Elf" follows the motivational story of Joe and the magical elf, Ralph. When young Joe faces a challenging and unhappy day, he decides to stop trying. This is when Ralph shows up to teach Joe a valuable lesson.

The magical elf refuses to leave Joe's side until he learns to overcome his fear of failing and pursues his dreams. Equipped with colorful illustrations and lyrical text, Harold's book sheds light on the importance of team work and perseverance and demonstrates that failure doesn't have to be final.

"No matter how bad things look, we must always keep trying and move forward," Harold said. "This is an important life lesson that, if taught at a young age, children can carry into adulthood. Ralph the Magical Elf hopefully instills this kind of courageous mentality."

"Ralph the Magical Elf" features enduring lessons, making it a must-read for kids of all ages.
