New Children's Book, THE LITTLE FIERY DRAGON is Released

The Little Fiery Dragon is on his way to Sydney to bake hot-cross buns for sick children in the hospital when his trip takes a surprising turn. In author and illustrator Jinnie Walker's "The Little Fiery Dragon" (published by Partridge Singapore), an accident with his bus ticket leaves the little dragon in jail, unable to make the special Easter buns for the children. With compassion, selflessness and gratitude, he does everything he can to fulfill his mission, and finds some unexpected help along the way.

Now translated into Mandarin, the children's book gives kids the option to read in both English and Mandarin, promoting language as a learning tool. Its colorful, hand-drawn illustrations also make use of the Chinese concept of dragons, introducing young readers to other cultural beliefs.

"I trained as a teacher and used to teach children everything, including art," Walker explains. "I realized early on that the children remembered things they were not aware of being taught. In other words, when they loved something they were doing or were happy, they remembered it afterwards more clearly. This is a book to make people happy, especially children."

On his journey, The Little Fiery Dragon runs into a helpful mayor who shares an important lesson with the dragon, and with young readers. Walker hopes children find a moment of happiness and learn something new from her work.
