New Children's Book Promoting Anti-Bullying

Corenne Taylor and Tanya Grace have teamed up to release Howard the Hefty Hippo, an engaging and beautifully illustrated children's book that teaches children ages 6-10 about the dangers of bullying and how to treat others with respect. The book is a first for both Taylor and Grace, an indie author-illustrator duo who intend to publish more children's books in the future.

The book tells the eponymous story of Howard, who struggles to fit in with a group of animal friends that continually bully him and reject his friendship. It is only after Howard meets a human girl that he learns what true friendship is all about. He also realizes real that his friendship has value and worth.

"This was such an exciting project to work on. It was very important to me on a personal level as I experienced the hardships of bullying as a child," said Taylor.

Taylor and Grace worked on the book for over a year, consulting with teachers, parents and children to perfect the story. An English version of the book was published in March 2015, followed shortly thereafter by French and Spanish translations.

"I wish that someone had taught me the life lessons we share in this book - it would have saved a lot of heartache and helped me develop stronger friendships with the right people," Taylor added. "Bullying is a hot topic in both schools and homes alike. It affects people of all ages and can have a devastating, lasting impact even after children transition into adulthood."
