FESTUS, Mo.

The heartwarming adventures of Katy and her friendly neighbor, Mrs. Bumbleberry, come to life in Kathleen Beining's new children's book, "Mrs. Bumbleberry's Garden" (published by WestBow Press).

Five-year-old Katy feels insolated in her new home. She has no friends yet, and she feels she will never meet anyone new until one day when Eugenia Bumbleberry, a 67-year-old woman, and her pet dachshund, Trina, introduce themselves.

Kind and wise, Mrs. Bumbleberry invites Katy into her garden to play with Trina, but soon, Katy begins helping Mrs. Bumbleberry with her gardening. She soon learns that friends come in all shapes and sizes.

"Mrs. Bumbleberry's Garden" is the first in a planned series of 10 books. Beining encourages readers to be on the lookout for the next book, due to be released in the near future.

An excerpt from "Mrs. Bumbleberry's Garden":

"It was raining. It had rained for two days. Katy knew it was two days because that's how long she'd lived in this house. Katy pressed her nose against the window, but all she saw was rain."
