New Children's Book Explores Encourages Protection of Wildlife

Nancy Walker has been struck by the recent threats to her homeland's native wildlife. The Australian outback is under growing concern as ecological communities are being destroyed while animals on the endangered species list grow.

Under particular threat, is the native devil population, which Walker hopes to help bring to light with her new children's book. She shares a unique tale that introduces readers to a wide variety of Australian wildlife in "Looking for Splasher: The Little Tasmanian Devil."

"Looking for Splasher" is a children's book that educates young readers about Tasmania's natural environment and various native animals. The story is equipped with colorful illustrations, that sheds light on four Tasmanian devil siblings - Nipper, Growler, Tugger and Splasher - who are playing hide-and-seek.

During the playful game, Splasher goes missing, causing the siblings to gather their friends and search for their missing sister. This adventurous tale features a diverse group of wildlife-including corbie grubs, wallabies, Tasmanian devils, and wombats-and it is a must-read for kids of all ages.
