COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa

"Why Are Wiener Dogs So Long?" (published by Xlibris) is just one of the whimsical questions in author Deborah Swanson's vibrantly illustrated picture book. In its pages, she portrays children's curiosity and how parents, grandparents, teachers and other adults must come up with imaginative answers to educate and entertain the kids at the same time.

Children can be full of questions and very inquisitive. Swanson's story follows a young boy with a large imagination as he asks his grandfather a series of oddball out-of-the-box questions that tests his wits. Both of them and the audience are treated to a rewarding experience as the impromptu quiz results in very interesting conversations that defy expectations and stretch readers' imaginations. Eventually, the child asks to play with the grandfather's phone, but he takes the kid outside to play instead.

With its bright colors and creative whimsy, "Why Are Wiener Dogs So Long?" provides an engaging and amusing reading experience for children of all ages as well as the adults caring for them.
