FREEPORT, N.Y. - Former spy Helias Doundoulakis returns to the literary scene with another exciting book that describes his exploits and experiences in the war. Co-authored by Gabriella Gafni, "My Unique Lifetime Association With Patrick Leigh Fermor" (published by Xlibris) is a tribute to soldier Patrick Leigh Fermor and Doundoulakis' friendship with him.

Doundoulakis met Leigh Fermor during World War II when the latter was a Special Operations Executive agent on Crete. The German presence was still everywhere on the island of Crete in July, 1942 when the author, a 19-year-old member of his brother George's famed resistance movement, went to the bus station in Chania Porte to greet Patrick Leigh Fermor, then known to the Greeks by his code name, "Mihalis."

Doundoulakis credits Leigh Fermor as the catalyst that helped him become a spy for the American spy organization, the Office of Strategic Services. In this memoir, he writes about Leigh Fermor's influence on his life while offering a cross section of history and life in the Second World War.

"My Unique Lifetime Association With Patrick Leigh Fermor" will appeal to readers of history, World War II and fans of the literary works of Leigh Fermor. Above all, it will be of interest to anyone looking for an inspiring true story of courage under fire.
