GLENDALE, Ariz.
Author Jeri Travis presents an extended examination of what life may be, what the universe may be and what God may be in her new book, "Evolution: The Long Journey Home" (published by Balboa Press).
"Evolution" centers on protagonist Jey, a young man who must complete his rite of passage before he can fully understand his place in the universe. After drinking a sacramental wine, Jey falls into a deep sleep. He then travels through Earth's history, learning about the unity of all beings within the cosmic structure of the universe, the balance of good and evil and the spiritual union with the Creator.
A strong believer in God, Travis writes to reconcile the theories of God's existence and evolution. She posits that future discoveries in physics will further prove her theories and advises readers to lookout for these discoveries.
"Evolution is a rational way of looking at creation," Travis says. "This is a story that fits the premise. We're all in this together; treat each other well."
An excerpt from "Evolution":
"'Evolution: The Long Journey Home' was written for anyone who believes in their heart and soul that God exists, but questions or disagrees with religious dogma. I understand science, physics, mathematics, and evolution. There is no denying the truth of these topics. I don't feel my belief in God contradicts any of these subjects."
