WASHINGTON
As an artist, author Roberto Salgado de Carvalho has a great interest in prehistoric art. In "The Mysterious Stone" (published by Xlibris), he shares his study of the Inga Stone, a set of glyphs carved in low reliefs found in northeastern Brazil.
Was it the work of aliens? Perhaps it was the Phoenicians? Could it be an encoded atomic energy formula made thousands of years ago? Many of the theories around it take its origins to far-away longitudes and even to outer space. Carvalho looks closer to home, to native Brazilian cultures. His book presents ethnological evidence about the true meaning of the engravings.
"Indigenous cultures are part of mankind's heritage," says Carvalho. "The more data we get about different cultures the better we can understand how man managed to survive in different environments and situations." As a way to better understand the depths of man's sensibility and his soul.
