Retired social studies teacher Ken Hanna teamed up with his grandson, Luke, and his granddaughter, Sarah, to publish a book of history, "Trip #3: Richard and Ellie's Family Grows" (published by AuthorHouse). "Trip #3" is the third book in this eight-part series.

Going by the collective pen name Lukas/S.K./Jid the Kid, this trio takes a look at America's history as experienced by seven generations of one family. They hope to educate future generations about America's history from the Civil War to present day.

"This series deals with 10 levels of learning that I feel no other series has explored," Hanna says. "The series links our past with our present and allows the reader to see how social issues occur in all generations. School-aged children have the opportunity to address these issues with their teachers and parents - a chance to interact on subjects that matter."

An excerpt from "Trip #3":

"Grace and I went to the movies last night and saw a wonderful 'talking' film. But, the most interesting part was the news feature they also showed. There is a remarkable breakthrough that looks very promising. A man, named Philo Farnsworth, filed for a patent on something he calls the 'Image Dissector.' It, basically, transports images taken from one device to another. This is a revolutionary idea for 1927."
