Bathsheba, Eve, Tamar and other "ruined" women of the Bible receive new life in Carol Cook's book "Bathsheba Bathed in Grace: 8 Scandalous Women Who Changed the World." Cook shares the overlooked details and unknown stories of these women we think we know by telling them from a new perspective - their own.

Cook says, "Writing their stories in the first person draws the reader into the story, imagining themselves walking through the journey of the women, feeling their sorrow, pain, heartaches and loss, but embracing the truth of God's love as the answer to fulfill their dreams and realize in Him they are enough."

Cook's "flesh on bone" perspective of these women gives a new dimension to familiar Bible characters most people are sure they know. Cook gives readers an opportunity to identify with these women and see these well known stories as their own. Bitterness, betrayal and jealousy are just some of the issues these Biblical women faced that still plague women more than six thousand years later.

"By hearing these stories in the first person, from women God wrote about, we learn to accept the imperfections of our lives and allow God to restore and refine our stories just as He did for these ancient women," she says.

Cook shows how the same God who stepped so powerfully into the lives of these ancient women is ready and waiting to step into the lives of contemporary women, despite their pasts, to give hope for the legacy they will leave. This perspective encourages women to go back to the Bible and allows God's prose to be real and tangible. While many of the Bible's "ruined" women may have seemed destined to be victims, Cook shows that regardless of their pasts, all women are destined to be victorious.
