Muriel Klafehn was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 63. Like millions of others who deal with this terrible disease, her life, and the lives of those around her, was turned upside down. Her husband, Keith, was there every step of the way - the tests, the chemotherapy, the bittersweet birthday celebrations, and ultimately, the funeral.

Keith Klafehn recently published "It Was a Privilege to Care for Her," a record of the days, months, and years throughout Muriel's "adventure," as the couple referred to her experiences with cancer. The journal is a detailed account of the ins and outs of what it means to be a cancer patient, and what it means to be a cancer patient's partner.

Klafehn invites readers into a tragic, yet inspiring, world. Amidst the endless parade of doctors, nurses, IVs, and x-rays is an intimate portrait of a relationship filled with strength, faith, and above all, love.

"I lived every minute with her as she admirably faced each day," Klafehn said. "I wanted people who had cancer and those who attended to them to experience the courage, fortitude, and faith of this woman, my wife."
