MELBOURNE, Australia

As an adolescent, author David Hathaway hated himself. He suffered from chronic depression, anxiety and poor self-esteem. He sought help, but it did not help. As a last resort, he studied psychology to try and help himself. By the time he had his master's degree he had resolved his personal issues and moved on to help others by working as a counselor. He did so for 40 years, and now in retirement, he has decided to pass on his knowledge and experience by writing his book, "How to become a better ME" (published by Xlibris AU).

"Having counseled people with problems for many years, I found that many of them could help themselves if they had a little additional information," says Hathaway who shares that information through his book. He has found that many people have baggage from their parents, siblings, bullies and so-called friends; baggage that may have them feeling angry, sad, guilty, afraid or rejected long after the event. In his view, the various divorces, broken relationships, drug abuse, depression anxiety and suicides are problems that result by making the same mental errors over and over.

"How to become a better ME" is a self-help book that shows how a vast majority of these issues could be resolved through simple changes in people's habits of thinking. It helps readers understand their errors and gives them information that helps them to grow into a better and happier person. They are taught how to think, act and relate to themselves and others in a more constructive way. Hathaway sees how people have inner veils that hide fear and guilt that damage their relationships. His book is about how to see and lift this inner veil to allow light to shine on the true nature of their relationships. With this light, readers get to see beyond the darkness of their fears and guilt to discover the true beauty of love.
