Deep in every person's heart lies a God-consciousness; that is, each and sundry has a built-in knowledge of God. Such knowledge conjures up a "good" God as seen in creation - its beauty, balance and splendor. However, the existence of evil and suffering creates such tension that many people dismiss the God they know in their hearts. Author and Minister Jeff Valentine aims to solve this tension in "Focus in the Fog," a faith-impelled autobiography that will open the eyes of readers to the truths about God and existence.

Why is there evil and suffering? Does God, all-powerful and loving, allow this? Having experienced multiple health crises in his life and the lives of his family members, Valentine wanted to know the role of God in the suffering of man. As a minister in the midst of pain, believing that God is good, he entered a season of studying one of the Wisdom books of the Bible: the Book of Job. In the account of the upright and God-fearing man from the land of Uz, Valentine found the answers to his questions.

In "Focus in the Fog," the author shares the answers he gathered. This book centers on the life of Job, who according to the Bible, was a blameless man who suffered greatly and lost all his business, possessions, and even his 10 children. It deals with the hard questions familiar to common people, all the while remaining faithful to the story and message of Job.

The premise that God is good alongside the experience of suffering creates the perfect weather conditions for internal fog in life; hence, the title "Focus in the Fog." While acknowledging the struggle of pain in a world of theories about God, this book wrestles with the hard questions as it presents laser-like beams of truth that cut through the fog of uncertainty to reveal the matchless panoramic worth of God.
