Kid Power Cares, Inc. (KPC), a non-profit school field trip organization believing kids have the "Power to Feel Great" by eating real food and exercising daily, announced the release of, "Kid Power's Operation Lunch Line 3D", a fantastical comic book adventure complete with reader activity pages and a 3D gallery available at http://www.kidpowerprograms.com. With the release of this comic book, which is a direct adaptation of a live theatrical touring production by the same name, teachers, parents and kids everywhere can develop the knowledge and behaviors needed to live healthier, more productive lives. To further disseminate the book, KPC is turning to the crowdfunding site, Kickstarter to raise money for printing physical copies. KPC is donating one comic book to a child in need each time a backer supports this "Get One, Give One" printing campaign.
Of the company's decision to offer a free download of the book on its website, Kid Power Cares, Inc. executive director Bruce Wilson said, "It just feels right. Our mission here at KPC is to educate through entertainment. Until now, we have primarily accomplished this through field trips and in-school assemblies. However, in recent years, schools are less able to embrace extra-curricular learning opportunities like field trips because they often face greater barriers such as funding cutbacks, transportation concerns, increased classroom time and testing prep. So this book is our solution to those direct challenges. Plus, now we can also reach schools and their families who live in rural communities far away from the cities where our theatrical production performs. In book form this nutrition story can teach everyone. I love that!"
KPC is hopeful a Kickstarter campaign will help raise money to print physical copies of the book for families or schools without Internet access. Crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter have the power to connect people of similar passions who are in turn willing to quickly spread the news of these outreach efforts to others. Again Bruce Wilson, "Folks who share our love for teaching kids and families about real food will love the lessons in this book. And as for the 3D pages, well that's just added cool!"
