Author Nedd Willard pens a memoir about his early life on the road, stories of adventure, friends and lovers in "A Traveler Never Reaches the End of the Road"(published by Xlibris UK). What always interested the author was meeting people. Throughout his life, he kept notes and sketches in pen and India ink, and his journals were a way of saving precious moments as he passed through childhood and adolescence.
From his happy childhood to his student days at the University of Wisconsin, Willard's restless character encouraged him to work his way out west in the US then back east to enlist as an ordinary sailor in the Second World War. At the age of 17, he was on the MV Rescue as World War Two was coming to an end. He kept sailing on other ships long after that, and the Merchant Marine brought him to Europe where he experienced the French culture. It offered him a world full of different values and unusual people. This place is where he felt at home, found friends, perfected his French and finished his doctorate. Some of his bold and expressive sketches from those days illustrate the tales in this book.
"Readers will find that this book is an unusual account of a young man's growing up. The people and places are real and nothing in the book is fiction. It is easy to read and full of authentic, lively events that made my life so interesting," says the author.
"A Traveler Never Reaches the End of the Road" recounts the beginning of the author's endless travels. It vividly shares with readers a true account in the life of a man who saw the world from a different perspective.
