Not everything that happens in Afghanistan stays in Afghanistan. However, in the case of MJ Greene, many of the powerful people she worked for would rather she keep her mouth shut. She won't.

In her book "A Conflict of Interest," Greene provides a candid look at the life of a female subcontractor working for a corrupt organization in Afghanistan. Tasked with daily duties that jeopardized her safety and freedom, Greene aims to empower other women to stand up for themselves and each other by trusting their intuition to fight for the truth.

"I know what it means to live and work in a conflict zone-and what it means to fight corruption," Greene said. "When I left for Afghanistan, I knew I was going to a war zone. But I had no idea as to what all that a war zone actually implied. That changed quickly."

During her time as the general manager of a NATO subcontractor in Afghanistan, Greene faced situations that put not only her morals in danger but also her life. Like many coming back from overseas, Greene returned with PTSD from her harrowing experiences. She found healing with the release of her raw and expose-all memoir, hoping others will as well.

"I want to provide some semblance of solace to those who have suffered at the hands of others - to those whose voices were never heard," Greene said. "Every voice can be heard, even if we never see the face that belongs to it".
