In his new political thriller "Levels of Power: The Senator" (published by AuthorHouse), author Mike Gilmore has crafted an intriguing, thought-provoking look at corruption and theft at the highest levels of political power.

Randy Fisher's 15 minutes of fame turns into a new life after he prevents a nuclear incident from affecting the entire country. Two months later the nation's new hero is appointed to fill the unexpired term of his friend, retiring U.S. Senator RoBert Moore.

Now the junior senator from the Palmetto State, Randy moves to Washington to assume his new position. He's only been in office for a few months when he meets Annie Willis, a project manager at the Department of Energy. Together they discover that someone might be stealing millions of dollars from the government. Will the rookie senator be able to unravel this political mystery?

Gilmore is sure that his book will appeal to readers on multiple levels, but the most basic reason may be its greatest attraction: readers want to feel, he says, the "satisfaction that someone in Washington really gets things done."
