PACIFIC PALICADES, Calif.

Author Michael T.G. Yepes has always had a certain interest in history, especially early Californian history. In "Child of Europe" (published by Xlibris), he has created a highly detailed read that covers the life and times of the people who lived in California in the 18th century.

"Child of Europe" is a homage to the 18th century period and follows the life and times of a fictional Hungarian Jesuit in the 18th century who witnessed the creation of settlements in California. The novel itself was based on the letters of a fictitious settler named Charles Galantay S.J who wrote home about his adventures. This book gives readers the chance to see how modern California was influenced throughout the years through the hard work and perseverance of a few missions.

The purpose of this novel though was not to slavishly copy the style of the 18th-century letters and thereby attempt to create an artistic forgery. Instead, it is meant to pay homage to the period and the people and show their influences on modern California.
