Over the course of his 20-year career in project management, author Michael J. Bettigole witnessed a number of both traditional and unconventional project managers succeed. He noticed the linking factor between the two types of managers was the use of certain universal truths that led to workplace success.

Bettigole began studying these truths and the patterns of success and failures in the work place. He compiles his findings, as well as his own advice for project managers, in his new book, "A Pocket Guide for Project Managers: Maximize People, Process, and Tools" (published by iUniverse).

Written in clear, assessable language, "A Pocket Guide for Project Managers" guides readers as they learn how to efficiently communicate, hold team members accountable for their actions and provide assistance for fixing problems. Bettigole also outlines several project management styles so readers can choose one that is right for them.

"Good leadership is a combination of several attributes, but most important is the capacity to understand people and draw out their expertise," Bettigole says. "I see project management as a critical, yet underappreciated aspect of corporate leadership and success."
