MIAMI - Challenged by an adamant believer in Jesus to prove that Christ did not physically rise from the dead, author Michael J. Alter responded and began a years-long interchange that would result in "The Resurrection: A Critical Inquiry" (published by Xlibris). The book is a collection of scholarly refutations of the resurrection, a work of skepticism that delves into complicated theological matters with an evidence-based yet nonetheless sensitive approach.
Alter refutes Jesus' purported physical, bodily resurrection and those writings in support of it. His book is compelling, relevant and current for those readers seeking scholarly refutations of that resurrection. This in-depth work presents the reader with 113 issues. Altogether 120 contradictions and 217 speculations are examined. Topics include cutting edge research in astronomy, geophysics, criminology and the rules of evidence, the social sciences and cognitive psychology.
With his book, Alter provides evidence to contradict Christ's status as Messiah - a divine state that depends on his physical, bodily resurrection. The author's examination of one of the most fundamental aspects of Christianity requires an open mind on part of readers, Christian and non-Christian alike. For objective seekers of the truth, new and paradigm-shifting realizations await for them within the pages of "The Resurrection: A Critical Inquiry."
