Author Michael Colyer says his book, "I Think I Grew up Better than You" (published by AuthorHouse) is "an honest account of what unfretted children growing through their formative years can imagine, and what funny, outrageous and dangerous things they can get up to when left to their own devises."

Migrating from England to Africa after World War II, a young Colyer was lost, confused and ecstatic in his new surroundings. "Northern Rhodesia just off the Congo border in the 1950s was thick with untamed bush, man-height grass and tall trees with vines," he says. "The sweltering heat, animal paths, deadly reptiles, stinging insects and its rivers and streams, were the world to me and my young friends."

Throughout the book, Colyer brings readers into his youth as he regales them with the wonderful enthusiasm of boys being boys in new land. "Our games were inadvertently dangerous learning curves, and we literally tried everything young boys dared to imagine," says Colyer. A tale woven with frightful adventure, historical relevance, edge-of-your-seat suspense, hilarity and even geographic, animal and reptilian facts, "I Think I Grew up Better than You" will have readers on the edge of their seats till the end.
