From author Merlene Hutto Byars comes Colonization, Plantations and More in South Carolina, a book revealing how the great nation of America was molded from the events that transpired since the early 1600s. Encompassing events from its foremost underpinnings to the present, readers will revel with the facts and insights pouring forth liberally in this book.
Byars is widely known for her love of preserving history and by the books she has authored about the state of South Carolina. This book is distinct from her previous books on this state. It elaborates on the prevailing driving forces leading to the aborted attempt to secede the state from the union. Furthermore, personalities who were instrumental in molding the culture, demeanor, ethnic background, and social standing of the people of that era are portrayed in great detail.
From the early colonization era to the War Between the States, this book gives readers a clear insight into the historical keystones that paved to the development and progress of America. It tells of the history, genealogy and kin folks involved in the building of this nation and the critical role of South Carolina in the struggle for freedom. It immerses the audience to the seminal trials and circumstances, financial and immigration conundrums, and the rumors of war to its full blown bloodshed and impact to the conflicting states. Depicted in equally substantial detail are the genealogies of prominent figures who played decisive roles in the history of the South.
Byars' book is an exceptional historical account and reference with thorough details opened, encompassing the momentous events from the birth of this nation to the here and now. A rare and impressive historiography, Colonization, Plantations and More in South Carolina is more than a register of records, but a valuable tool in passing on the history, culture and people of United States of America.
