Melissa King, a first time author, has completed her first book, "The Bee and Me"; an enthralling and powerful story. It is designed to challenge the developing perception that to be valuable, something must be new. In a world where youth is worshipped and filled with "the latest and greatest must haves", this story, in a powerful and touching way, teaches that value should be ageless. This story is for the young and old alike.
Melissa King was born in Greenwood, Mississippi. From a young age she enjoyed literature, writing, and rhyming. After graduating college as a registered nurse, she began to work with multigenerational populations, and on a regular basis flew home to Mississippi to help with an aging generation of family. Observing acutely, the "generation gap" between the ages, she began to write an unpublished series of poems about "the Bee" in order to help those in her work and her private life to deal with an ever-growing generation gap in a light-hearted way. This led to the compelling and honest story about value and aging in "The Bee and Me".
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Melissa King's enchanting traditional rhyme story has already earned her a 5 star review by Jack Magnum of Readers' Favorite stating, "King's verses are perfectly designed for reading aloud without being sing-song and repetitive, and Ana Lyn Abello's acrylic paintings are brilliantly colored and loads of fun...perfect for reading aloud at story time, and it's highly recommended."
Readers who wish to experience this heartfelt work can purchase "The Bee and Me" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
