Melinda J. Abersold marks her debut in the world of literature with a deeply affecting novel that examines the essence of faith, love and devotion. Peopled by richly drawn characters, The Crooked Path elucidates some essential issues that confront today's Christians as it tells an extraordinary tale of love.
Set in the town of Williamsville, Missouri, the story introduces Esther Cox and David Fisher. Esther is the pastor of a small local church who finds herself facing a number of challenges both in her ministry and personal life. She struggles with the death of her husband and the responsibility of raising a teenage daughter whose heart has drifted away from God. Aside from her personal troubles, Esther must also deal with the controversy that comes with being a woman holding a pastoral position.
David, on the other hand, is a well-respected local farmer who has been a member of the country church in Williamsville since childhood. Like Esther, he is also struggling with grief caused by the death of a loved one-his wife, Sadie. When the two cross paths, they embark on a journey of faith and love and try to discover the purpose that God designed for them. The only question now is whether they will accept what they will find at the end of the arduous journey.
Poignant and beautifully told, The Crooked Path is a story of people who embark on an odyssey of exploring the meaning of love and purpose in the guiding light of God's will. It will rivet readers as it imparts lessons of universal value.
