PEORIA, Ariz., March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ Author Mel Millsap tells a tale of mystery and adventure that takes place on the last 40 miles of a South Carolina river that runs to the sea.
A hurricane years before has created a situation which bringsthree young men an exciting and sometimes scary end to their summer. Prowling the Whatahochee riverand its estuary islands in Charlie's boat, Crackerjack, for interesting driftwood is their summer job but what they find will turn them into detectives chasing answers all the way up river to Polk's Ferry. Along the way they find friendship and betrayal, a little love and some really scary people who want what they found.
Though serious in its historical references to Nazi atrocities and thievery during the era of World War ll, the villains in this story are so inept as to be comical. With a little luck and a lot of help from friends the boys are able to resolve the mystery, only to be betrayed by a friend.
Young readers will find the whole book exciting, a little bit scary, yet fun as everything is kept on the humorous side and the characters, both good guys and bad, are wonderfully interesting.

About the Author
Mel Millsap is a lifelong artist, art director and painter. He makes his home on the shore of a little residential lake in the Phoenix, Arizona area with his wife, Shirley.
As a long-time sailor, he knows the joys and adventures of simply knocking about in boats with friends as the boys in this story are doing. The closest he came to finding treasure was the joy of scotch-on-the-rocks with friends in the cockpit of a docked boat, while watching the sun set.
