They say when the student is ready, the teacher appears. That could not be more true for Meg Tufano, a veteran online professor of philosophy and psychology and social media afficianado. She had written a novel that had won the Best Novel award from the Tennessee Mountain Writers, but she did not have a clue how to get the book published.
Getting involved on Google+ (where she "met" Guy Kawasaki who is a Google+ evangelist), she and four other Plussers who she also met on G+, created a think-tank, SynaptIQ+, as a way to leverage their collective knowledge-base to become an full-service consulting company, including the production of an academic journal that Meg edits.
White Papers, Lectures, Social Media Consulting, Root Cause Analysis, Research: these would all become part of the SynaptIQ+ consulting repertoire.
But Meg hit a brick wall when it came to publishing books. HOW DO YOU DO IT?
And, suddenly, there it was, right in her Google+ stream. Guy Kawasaki, one of the original team that started Apple and an author of numerous books, was offering a new book, "APE, Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur," for a free download for one day.
Meg took the opportunity and the rest, as they say, is good fortune: her novel is now published on Amazon in both print and digitally (directions how to get your book published clearly given in Guy's book). And--here's the "entrepreneur" part--she has started a publishing house, S+, that has six MORE books in production!
This is definitely a story of a short book leading to a successful entrepreneurial career!
