An emergency room nurse experiences the fears and uncertainties of her patients when her father suffers a devastating heart attack in Stormy Fanning's debut novel, "Heart Full of Trouble" (published by Abbott Press).

Emergency room nurse Allie Sanford is always ready for any challenge that comes through the hospital doors. When the patient is her own father who has just suffered a heart attack, Allie experiences the hospital from the other side of the stretcher as her father undergoes open heart surgery.

Allie's mother, Betty, leans heavily on her daughter, and her younger sister, Shelby, trusts Allie to be the responsible one. With the help of Jake, a hunky paramedic with the fire department, Allie must remain strong for her family even as uncertainties cloud their future.

Throughout her book, Fanning aims to present differing views of a hospital, from both a nurse's and patient's perspectives. She plans to release a sequel in the near future.

An excerpt from "Heart Full of Trouble:"

"As a kid, my mother was very kind and nurturing for the most part, but she passed out at the sight of blood. As an accident-prone child, this left me to tend to my own injuries on a regular basis. Maybe that's why I ended up going into nursing. I had experience in treating injuries and I wasn't squeamish about blood and body parts."
