GAZIPUR, Bangladesh
In Md. Gias Uddin Miah's country of Bangladesh, people are eager to enjoy what the rivers and water-flows can yield, but they do forget that they also have to nourish the environment. He has written "A Dream for the Mother Soil" (published by Xlibris AU) to insist people on carrying out their environmental duties properly.
The author thinks that his people no longer attend to the needs of their rivers. Tributaries have been dying in Bangladesh, a land full of rivers. They are mostly busy with shouldering heavy import cargo off the desert. As a result, the land is turning into a desert. Through this book, the author calls for nourishing water resources in Bangladesh for a healthy environment.
With necessary funds, he pointed out various ways to conserve and preserve water resources through river excavations, creation of new water flows, digging of water reservoir, land development and management, improved transportation and agriculture, establishment of hydroelectric plants and more.
"Though the content of this book is simply about the geographical features of a certain land, everything that is discussed here was done in the light of greater welfare of humanity,'" says the author.
