The story of the Nativity, or as it is more commonly known, Christmas Eve, is considered one of the most important holidays of the year. It is a joyous time of celebration and love wherein children get to feel true Christmas spirit. It is of course synonymous with the birth of Jesus Christ and is observed by believers all over the world to commemorate the birth of their savior.
Author Maud Allen's new book, Christmas Eve, contains a poem based on the stories of Christmas that the author's mother used to tell. The poem tells of Christmas Eve during the early 1900's and the true meaning of Christmas spirit. It tells of the whiteness and beauty of the snow, the warm and comfortable feeling of being indoors, nice and cozy, with the fireplace crackling. It is about the fun and excitement children have while waiting for Santa Claus to come and bring his bag of gifts and goodies. Most of all, it is the anticipation of opening gifts on Christmas morning. The poem tells of bygone days where children truly believed in the magic of Christmas and truly knew the significance of the nativity story.
This is a beautifully illustrated book filled with pictures and poems about Christmas and the nativity that gives off a sense of nostalgia. It is a wish to go back and have the perfect Christmas again made true in book form. Christmas Eve completes the perfect Yuletide treat for kids in the season of joy and giving.
