Maud Allen was born in 1908. When she was a child, there was no radio or television for entertainment. People created their own. The author wrote and memorized poetry that was sometimes pages long. Before reciting a poem, she practiced facial and vocal expressions while looking in a mirror. She is now in her 80's and is a passionate artist. She has seven children and 24 grandchildren. She currently lives in Meridian, Idaho.
