Author Mary Ricks Phillips's retirement as a part of the country's teaching force allowed her to look for something stimulating to do. And writing her story was something she dreamed about doing. After taking classes in writing autobiographical texts, she proudly writes and shares her own journey within the pages of "Tearis" (published by Xlibris).

This book primarily highlights the way the world was for Tearis, the author, as she grew up in the South. Revelations of her feelings towards family members, friends and her neighbors are unabashedly unveiled within this memoir's pages. Although she protects the real identities of the people who played a role in the different chapters of her life, Phillips exposes the actual events that shaped her to become the person and the woman she is today.

Aware of the fact that some of her personal struggles are not entirely known to her family, Phillips decided that writing to hone her talent and sharing her story comes as a two-in-one deal when she wrote this book. Insightful, this tell-all tale is a depiction of a woman's innate strength and determination to achieve what makes her happy and content.
