Mary Joan Reasby, a devoted sister to Judith "JuJu" Ann Reasby who was born with Down Syndrome, has completed her new book "The Upside to Down Syndrome": a testament to a family and their mindful mission with a unified purpose to help JuJu lead a fulfilling life through daily lessons in learning essential skills.
According to Reasby, "(My) sister JuJu, born with Down syndrome, was not supposed to live passed her fifth year. At least that's what the doctor told our mother. However, JuJu had other plans and defied the medical odds. She lived decades beyond the physician's prediction by sixty-two years."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Mary Joan Reasby's inspirational true-to-life account highlights the joy JuJu brought to her immediate and extended family members.
JuJu was born on July 3, 1947, and at the time of her birth the physician told JuJu's mother that the only option was to institutionalize the child. JuJu's mother refused and took her baby home to be raised along with her other children, including Reasby. Reasby credits JuJu's longevity in part to a loving and stimulating home environment. Overall, JuJu had a cheerful childhood which carried on into her teens, adulthood, and part of her senior citizen years.
Readers who wish to experience this compelling work can purchase "The Upside of Down Syndrome" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
