FORT PLAIN, N.Y.
Having written poetry for many years, Maria C. Whalen has been both the observer and participant in her craft. Recently retired, she committed her energies to publishing this collection of poetry. Her new book, "Through the Fields" (published by AuthorHouse), shares the experiences, feelings and questions that have shaped her life journey.
This collection of poetry invites readers to journey with Whalen into new areas of discovery. Her poems offer reflections and meditations of "dailyness" and the natural world, as a way to illuminate spiritual clarity. She invites readers to join her in the discovery of self-growth expressed through the imagery of poetry.
"I believe everyone has a desire to understand and explore the experiences, relationships and beliefs that define them as individuals," Whalen says. "'Through the Fields' reflects on some of the difficult questions the everyday person contemplates."
Included in this collection are natural-light photographs Whalen has taken herself to illustrate the imagery in her writing.
