HOUSTON, Nov. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ Today, on the 105th anniversary of the start of the Mexican Revolution, historian Joe Lee Janssens released the book, Maneuver and Battle in the Mexican Revolution: Rise of the Praetorians. The first in a series of three, this book examines the events surrounding the rise and fall of Francisco I. Madero from 1910 to the beginning of 1913.
The only monograph that holistically addresses military tactics, operations, logistics, and strategy during the Mexican Revolution, Doctor Janssens draws from an unprecedented level of research, including use of the Mexican Defense Archives, not only to explore fascinating details of the armed conflict but also reveal it as an exercise in conventional warfare rather than the guerrilla war it is often portrayed to be.
Available through CreateSpace for $39.95, Rise of the Praetorians is the first military history of the Mexican Revolution written for an English-speaking audience.
About the Author JOE LEE JANSSENS received a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, and a BA in Spanish as well as a PhD in Latin American history from the University of Houston. A twenty-five year veteran of the oil field, he first began studying the Mexican Revolution over fifteen years ago while living in Veracruz where he was the finance director of a U.S. subsidiary.
