SEATTLE
It is said that St. Augustine once claimed, "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." Surely he was correct, but when the time or resources to travel the world are lacking, the answer can be to explore a book itself.
Through the pages of books, readers can travel to new worlds. Fantasy lovers enter Narnia, Middle Earth and Hogwarts; historical fiction fans can explore revolutionary France or Victorian England. Those who desire a modern twist can learn about Spain in Jim Arnold's debut novel, "My Angel of Angels."
Arnold tells the story of Manual Santiago, a young man who travels to Spain to learn what his deceased father loved so much about the country. As he learns about Spanish culture, Santiago meets Angelica Sanchez and learns about the importance of mutual respect in relationships.
An avid traveler himself, Arnold has been exploring the world since the age of five. Visiting places like Greece, Japan, Germany and the Phillippines have not only added stamps to his passport, but also expanded the author's understanding of other cultures.
Arnold teaches readers the importance of exploring others' worldviews, encourages them to respect others and dares them to take chances.
