In 2005 a car struck author Wayne P. Gillis while he was riding his motorcycle, causing a number of serious injuries. In his new book "Moving Forward: A Personal Story of Hope, Recovery & Determination!" (published by Balboa Press), Gillis chronicles that event and those injuries and presents for readers the inspiring story of how he overcame them and began putting his life back together.
Not breathing at the scene and with multiple physical injuries, the most life-altering one a closed-head traumatic brain injury, Gillis was saved by an off duty paramedic who enhanced the reason for his survival. "He, in turn, instrumented the 'Forward Motion' I write of," says Gillis.
Gillis' story compares directly to the lifestyle process that encompasses starting life over with a "clean brain" state, unfettered by old memories. "Overcoming an obstacle in one's physical world is tough enough," he says, "but add the serious mental weakness I experienced and the plot thickens! Like being 'born again' and having the reasoning of a child. Learning to sit up, move into a wheelchair, to eventually walk in a walker, then a cane, then normal movement is child's play compared to rebuilding one's inner self-worth and knowledge base!"

About the Author
A former employee trainer for a national bank, Wayne P. Gillis built and sold a successful business in Florida before returning to Canada to go back to university. While following his direction to become a medical doctor, taking the course The Psychology of Law altered his path. In 2005, however, a car struck his motorcycle, and topping all other damage, the traumatic brain injury (TBI) shattered his life. Rebuilding who he once was, Gillis now lives in Charlottetown with his wife and two sons, so his wife can fulfill her lifelong dream. In May of 2013, she will graduate as a doctor of veterinary medicine. This is his first book.
