MISTAKEN IDENTITY is Revealed in New Book

TEXARKANA, Texas

Born in Bangor, Maine, author Stephen Simon King has long had a great appreciation of its local narratives. Based on his memories of those stories, he blended humor with life and death situations to tell the story in "Mistaken Identity" (published by Xlibris).

When an overly aggressive cop ends up killing a decorated World War II Marine veteran, his fellow veterans plot vendetta against the arresting officer. Unfortunately, a case of mistaken identity has the would-be vigilantes kill the wrong cop.

An excerpt from the book reads:
"Can it, Larry, we got big troubles." Jack Mulvaney was supporting his younger brother, Bobby, by the arm. Bobby was red-eyed and shaking like he had a severe chill.
"Jesus Christ, guys, I killed the wrong cop! Jesus Christ! What the hell are we goin' to do? It was the wrong cop!"

The rest of the story deals with the police investigation into the murder as well as the emotional impact on the vigilantes for having killed the wrong person.

"Mistaken Identity" presents an interesting jaunt into a tale of a vendetta gone horribly wrong in a manner reminiscent of how towns develop their own stories.
