As the silver flute has expressed the music of author Tania M. DeVizia's soul, mirroring her soul for more than 33 years, so too is the aim of the written word in her new book, "Mirror of the Soul: A Flutist's Reflections" (published by Balboa Press).
In her book, DeVizia merges theology and science, time and eternity, and hands-on healing with sound healing. She analyzes and reflects upon the five roles of Jesus when he walked on Earth, describing the manner in which music and art mirror his roles of good shepherd; healer and miracle worker; carpenter and stone mason; fisher of men; and son of God.
A quest for truth, "Mirror of the Soul" reveals the innate desire DeVizia believes all of humanity possesses to reflect the highest ideals of the Creator in works of art. An analysis of fine art, classical music and pop art joins the observations of this classical flutist as she draws parallels across the seemingly diametrically opposed disciplines of religion and science and weaves them together in a cohesive narrative.
"The Creator inspires those who are ripe for inspiration and their projects mirror or reflect his highest ideals," DeVizia says. "What's past is prologue, and different disciplines have many unifying factors, which makes one wonder if there is any difference at all."
