In her new book, "Be Not Deceived: Tithes & Offerings" (published by WestBow Press), Lystra M. Williams delivers a revealing look at tithing, dispelling long-held beliefs on what biblical Scripture mandates.

"Christian churches today have misinterpreted Malachi 3:8-12 to mean that God wants each Christian to give 10 percent of his or her gross pay to the church on His behalf," writes Williams. "My book is the result of a comprehensive study that reveals that God never asked for money for the tithes. God told us exactly what He wanted us to bring for the tithes, and it was not money.

"I discovered that God did not ask for money, but for food," Williams explains. "When He said that there will be food in His house, He really was speaking of food. The food was to be used to feed the poor and the priests."

After her research into tithing, Williams made it her mission to spread this news to Christians everywhere.

"'Be Not Deceived' reveals how doing life God's way could benefit us politically, financially, economically, and personally," she notes. "It shows how planting fruit trees and vegetable gardens to allow us to tithe God's way could eliminate hunger in our society, and ensure that no child ever goes to sleep hungry. The book encourages generosity, and also reveals Bible prophecy that is applicable to our future."
