Lois Swann Releases THE PAINTER

Readers of Lois Swann's "The Mists of Manittoo" and "Torn Covenants" are celebrating the release of her long-awaited third novel, "The Painter" (published by AuthorHouse), the story of a young painter overcoming loss to create his masterpiece.

In the closing days of World War II, as a reward for rescuing Italian masterpieces from Nazi hands, artist Lorenzo Frasca leaves Italy for the United States, hoping to embark on a career as a prominent painter. Out of pity, he has unwisely married Tulia, a cruel and crazed woman with a fragile daughter, Enza. To make ends meet, Lorenzo paints apartment hallways, a soul wearying experience.

Honoring his promise to the priest who has tried to tame Tulia, Lorenzo begins the painting of the parish church, mixing his own pigments from stone, when he meets Anna, a beautiful older woman who becomes his lover and his muse. Brought low by loss, Lorenzo's painted church brings him to the attention and patronage of a Spanish prince who challenges Lorenzo to achieve his masterwork.
