FLORENCE, S.C.

Author Lisa Flowers invites young and old readers alike to enjoy her new children's book, "Butterbean" (published by Trafford Publishing), which draws inspiration from her love for animals to tell the story of a lost puppy and his new home.

Butterbean, a six-week old puppy, has wandered away from her mother and siblings. Despite leaving them, she can't stop playing in the butterbean field. Her train of thought is finally broken, when she sees a white van parked near the field.

Upon inspecting the van, Butterbean finds a friendly bald man who gives her water and takes her in. Little did Butterbean know, she hadn't just made a new friend, she had found her new family.

Throughout "Butterbean," readers will watch Butterbean make various new friends and find her place within her new family. Flowers hopes Butterbean's story will inspire readers to mirror the compassion of the people in "Butterbean," and help animals of all shapes and sizes.
