When was the last time you explored your own backyard?

Likely, in a time when technology seems to rule our lives, the answer to that question is quite disheartening.

Let Anna and Andy Hummingbird change that. Ride along as they journey through a backyard full of beauty and adventure in author Linda P. Young's new book, "The Adventures of Anna and Andy Hummingbird: Anna and Andy Meet the Grandchildren."

"Sometimes we forget about the fun we can have in our own backyards," Young said. "My hope is that Anna and Andy spark that excitement in the children who read their stories."

Young, a Midwesterner-turned-Las Vegas resident was inspired by two brother and sister hummingbirds who were born in her backyard. "I began watching these two birds dance around the yard so beautifully, my mind started to wonder what adventures they might be on," Young said. "The 'Anna and Andy' series is based on both actual events, and stories my imagination allowed me to embellish as I watched them dance around my backyard."

Young is the author of seven additional "Anna and Andy" books, with two more to come, as well as an adult fiction book, "5 Short Stories that Just Aren't Write!"
