Brimming with life lessons and pure human emotions, The New Kid IN CLASS by Linda G. Owens follows the life of a new kid in school who manages to withstand the shame of bullying after he has found a friend who helped him realize that a person should not be judged by the way he looks or the way he wears his clothes. This book is an advocacy to stop bullying and to encourage children to accept themselves and others for who and what they are.

Tim gets bullied and picked on the very first day he attends his new school. A few of his new classmates immediately decide they don't like him because of the way he dresses. They think it's funny to laugh and pick on him. He wishes he had never come to the new school and is embarrassed by the way he is treated by the other students. Keira doesn't approve of her classmates' behavior and she tells them so. She is especially upset with her best friend Elizabeth who was the first to begin picking on him. Keira encourages her friends to accept Tim for who he is. By the end of the school day, Tim has a new best friend. Keira eventually introduces Tim to her group of friends.

A wonderful tale of acceptance and friendship, this book tackles one of the pressing issues in many countries today. Bullying can be very hurtful and traumatic. This book serves as an inspiration for all the children who have somehow relate to the story. It believes that building relationships and having friends are some of the best things that can happen in school. It is a place for growth, maturity and love.

The New Kid IN CLASS is a colorful and highly meaningful volume that children and children at hearts will definitely love and enjoy. It is an exciting and fascinating tale that changes the idea about bullying. If children begin to read this book, they will realize that it is wrong to judge a person by his appearance, attitude and the personality are what makes true friendships grow.
