Light Messages Publishing has announced the release of A Sergeant in the House, a children's book about a little boy's wish and the sacrifices of our nation's heroes. In honor of our military men and women, children's author Betty Turnbull is supporting Hope For The Warriors (http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org), by donating all of royalties from the book to Hope For The Warriors, to assist the needs of wounded service members and military families. Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
A Sergeant in the House tells the story of Lenny who desperately wants a puppy. Lenny's father is in the military and with the family's frequent moves and Lenny's young age, his parents require him to wait. A deal is struckwhen his daddy becomes a sergeant, Lenny can have a puppy.
Lenny's father deploys and Lenny learns to care for his family and to help around the house. A dreaded phone call brings the news that Lenny's father has been injured and is being sent home. When Lenny's father explains that this means he'll never become a sergeant, Lenny realizes that what he truly wants is his daddy, puppy or no puppy. This heartwarming story is a salute to military families across the country, and a cheer for our nation's heroes.
Betty Turnbull lived much of her adult life in Haiti where she worked in education and rural development. Having lived outside the United States, Betty grew to appreciate even more the freedoms she grew up with. Today, she is a proud military mom with a son currently deployed to Afghanistan with the United States Air Force. She realizes that he represents just one of the thousands of men and women who give of themselves daily to protect the freedoms we take so much for granted. She has also witnessed firsthand that when one member of the family serves, the whole family serves. A Sergeant in the House was written as her way of giving back and saying thank you to our military men and women, their spouses and their children. Betty says, "This is one way of giving back to families who have made extraordinary sacrifices for our country." This is Turnbull's fourth children's book.
The author is available for guest posts, interviews, giveaway events and other promotions. A Sergeant in the House is available wherever books are sold (betty(at)lightmessages(dot)com).
